We welcome and encourage participation by everyone who has a desire to see children grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We invite you to attend our monthly Children’s Ministry Committee meetings on the first Monday of every month at 9:15. Child care is provided.
Sunday morning program
The mission/purpose of the children’s Sunday school program is to teach the Word of God using a Bible-centered curriculum.
Our prayer for the children of Christ Presbyterian Church is to profess that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior and that they would continue to grow in a personal relationship with Him.
Sunday morning routine
Everyone meets in the sanctuary to begin worship. There is a brief children’s moment for children age 3 to grade 4. Following the children’s moment, all children age 3 through grade 12 are dismissed to their Sunday school classrooms.
During Sunday school children will pray, read the Bible and/or listen to Bible stories. In addition, children will participate in art, games and discussions which help foster greater understanding of the Bible and how it relates to their own life experiences.
During the summer months children 3 years old through grade 5 are invited to children's church, where all the children meet in one room together to study a person of the Bible through Bible stories, games, videos and art activities.
Children's Programs
Next Steps Next Steps is designed for those children who have made a profession of faith, to teach what comes next in their own spiritual journey. The class takes place in three sessions:
- Salvation: Becoming friends with God
- Communion: Choosing to Remember
- Discipleship: The Making of a Disciple
At the completion of this class and upon parent approval, children are invited to participate in the Lord’s Supper.
Christian Pioneers Jr. Children 3 years old through 2nd grade meet 3-4 times throughout the year. These special times include games, crafts, Bible stories, food, song and fellowship.
Christian Pioneers This group for 3rd through 5th graders meets monthly for Bible study, crafts, special events, games, mission work, and music. This spiritually nurturing program is fun and rewarding for the children.
Joyful Noise Joyful Noise is a choir for children ages 3 through grade 4. They meet for 20 minutes to sing praises to God at the end of Sunday school class. Joyful Noise performs during worship services 1 to 2 times per month.
Good News Readers Good News Readers is a group for children in grades 3 through grade 5. The first Sunday of each month two children come forward during Children's Moment to read a passage of Scripture, offer a short devotion and invite the congregation to sing a praise song.
Vacation Bible School Each summer, children ages 3 to grade 5 have the opportunity to hear God’s Word during a fun-filled week. During Vacation Bible School (VBS), the children listen to Bible stories, make crafts, participate in outdoor activities, enjoy a healthy snack, then sing and perform for family and friends during a Thursday evening performance. Two mission projects are selected each year.
