The goal of the Mission Committee at Christ Presbyterian Church is to follow the biblical outline for outreach that Jesus gives us in Scripture:
- To be fishers of men, just as Jesus is (Matthew 4:19, 20)
- To go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19)
- To be his Holy-Spirit-empowered witnesses in our local community, our state and national regions, and the remote parts of the earth (Acts 1:8)
We are working toward these goals on several levels.
Foreign Ministries. Our foreign missions program involves monetary support (50 percent of the budget) for missionaries working to share the gospel outside the United States.
In 1999 the Lord called Christ Church to develop a short-term foreign missions program, providing an avenue for the congregation to experience the mission field first-hand.
We work with Dr. Alberto Zamacona of Project Compassion Oaxaca in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, supplying multigenerational teams of doctors, dentists, nurses, and lay people who want to share their faith, skills, and love with one of the worlds largest unreached groups of people. Two trips to this region are coordinated annually.
Missions in the United States. The rest of our budget is given to support local, state, and national outreach efforts.
These include a Geauga County prison ministry, Campus Crusade ministries, and the Christian Family Outreach program in Cleveland.
Children's Mission Work. The children also contribute to mission work through these activities:
Each year at Christmas the Sunday school sponsors and supports the Samaritans Purse mission project.
Items for the homeless are collected annually in Hope Totes and delivered to Cleveland’s City Mission.
