A community for growing spiritually

At its best, church is a community for growing into deeper, richer, freer life. That's what Jesus offers us and it's what we pursue in small groups.

Our groups are all sorts and more are starting all the time. Some study the Bible, others explore books. Some are for prayer, others specifically for men or women. Periodically, we gather in groups following worship to explore how to practice the way of Jesus.

Church is a community for growing as a person of love and groups are a way we do that. Some of our groups are:

The Prayer Practice

10:30 a.m. worship with post-worship groups
October 8, 15, 22 & 29

Prayer is the way we commune and communicate with God. In worship and post-worship groups, we will explore the practice of prayer as a way of talking to God, talking with God, listening to God, and being with God. Download the Prayer Practice Guide and join the CPC Prayer Practice Group to receive each week's video.

Christian Meditation Group, Saturdays, 7am via Zoom

Christian meditation is an ancient way of prayer that, in simplicity, silence and stillness, rests in Christ in the depths of our hearts. An expression of the World Community for Christian Meditation, the group meets weekly for receiving teaching on meditation and contemplative Christianity, practicing a period of meditation, and supporting each other as meditators. Newcomers are always welcome.

Praying Grandparents, every other Tuesday, 10am (Sept. - May)

This group gathers to discuss their lives as grandparents, reflect on what it means to be a loving presence in the lives of their grandchildren, and pray for the grandchildren of those in the group.

Men's Study, Wednesdays, 6:30 a.m., CoffeeWorks in Chesterland

This men's group meets weekly to study the Bible or a book on living in the way of Jesus, and to pray for and support one another in life.

Women's Bible Study, Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m., 6-week seasonal offerings

Through video based guides and conversation, this group for women listens to the Bible for nourishment and wisdom for living with God today.

Seasonal All-Church Studies

A few times a year, in worship and in groups following the service, Christ Church explores a topic or practice related to daily life with God. Recently, we have gathered around Tish Harrison Warren's Liturgy of the Ordinary and the Sabbath Practice from Practicing the Way.
